Starting with the design, the headphone looks standard but have elements of elegance and luxury, they are made of leather and matte plastic, still feel light but do have a sense of quality.
The PXC 550 are of course wireless but they do come with a cable if you want to go wired, and also a case to carry it around.
On the right said of the headphones, there is a touch panel, it isn’t always the most reliable, but when it works it’s super cool, you can control volume by sliding up or down, tap to play and pause, double tap to activate the microphone so you can hear what’s going on around you,
there is also a switch to quickly jump between different devices and a button for different effect modes like movie, club, speech and more, they work well but the best mode is just standard.
In terms of comfort, they are pretty good, the ear cups feel nice and the headband is pretty good too but after about 45 minutes to an hour, the headband can get a bit uncomfortable or i think that is just me. When you fold up the headphone or take them off, it automatically pauses your music just like apple’s air pods, sort of.
Now the Sound, how do they sound? well after testing it for hours and trying different genres, it is actually quite impressive, as being said earlier these headphones are wireless so the sound won’t be as amazing as wired pair of headphones but its far above other wireless headphones like the Bose QC 35 & the Sony MDR-1000X.
First, the bass is pretty strong, you can adjust it in the Sennheiser's app that called CAP TUNE, with various sound profiles and other settings it can be very powerful for sound adjustment, in summary, they do sound great if you don’t like the sound the app is definitely going to hook you up.
You may be wondering about the noise canceling, well it does work very well actually, it is truly an amazing experience to walk through the streets hearing nothing but your music like its a soundtrack for your life. Common thing with noise canceling headphones is wind noise, so what happens is that the mic for noise canceling pick up the wind noise from outside and it’s kind of noticeable here it doesn’t destroy listening experience but its definitely noticeable for sure.
For battery life, Sennheiser says about 30 hours, and i can say that it is fairly true after using it for days, so expect over a week of battery life spend between different days.
So these are really great headphones but are they worth it ?
They will cost you about 400$ , more expensive than the QC 35 that costs 350$ but for that extra 50$ you will get a ten hours more battery life, a better looking design and more features.
Now your turn, what do you guys think about these wireless noise-canceling headphones from Sennheiser ? let me know in the comment section below.
